about

This album represents finding peace in solitude and stillness in times of change and uncertainty.

Sometimes in life you experience missteps or breakdowns that make you rethink what you’re doing, or who you are, and for me music has always been my personal way of rediscovering my self and what I’m here to do on this Earth.

I wanted to make an album that had emotional and uplifting compositions but felt very close to the stillness and silence I was needing to reflect. I’d always loved the sound of felted piano, and when I met up with Taylor Mackall (a new friend at that point) by chance when we both happened to be in New York City, I knew I wanted Taylor to be a part of it. He was playing piano in an apartment in Chelsea that evening for a small group of friends, and his style was so naturally soulful and authentic that I knew I had to create something with him.

Using Gregory’s studio we felted his old piano and got to work figuring out how to record it properly. Many of my compositions were based on sketches or little loops I would make in the days leading up to the studio time, that Taylor would then extend and perform as full songs. Many of the strings parts were written and recorded after, and I would spend a lot of time cutting up, editing, and even re-arranging some of Taylor’s performances in the studio.

This is one of the most personal and emotive albums I’ve ever made, and we're very happy to share it with you, as well as grateful to have worked (and continue to work with) such talented and dedicated musicians.
I hope it speaks to you as much as it does to me.
Thanks for listening.
